Shinobi boxset volume 2

British boutique label Radiance Films is set to release Shinobi Volume 2, the second Blu-ray box set in their acclaimed restoration of Daiei Studios’ classic ninja saga, Shinobi no Mono. Scheduled for release on August 18, 2025, this limited edition set (3,000 copies) includes films 4 to 6 in the series: Siege (1964), Return of Mist Saizo (1964), and The Last Iga Spy (1965).

These entries mark a shift in the series, with Raizō Ichikawa portraying the enigmatic Mist Saizo, a ninja driven by vengeance against the Tokugawa shogunate. Directed by Kazuo Mori, these films are renowned for their intricate espionage plots, stylized black-and-white cinematography, and the introduction of enduring ninja tropes like the shuriken and the iconic black garb.

Radiance Films’ release features high-definition digital transfers presented on Blu-ray (1080p) for the first time outside Japan, uncompressed mono PCM audio, and new and improved optional English subtitles. The set is housed in a rigid box with full-height Scanavo cases and a removable OBI strip, leaving packaging free of certificates and markings.

This release follows Radiance’s successful Shinobi Trilogy box set, which included the first three films and was praised for its meticulous restoration and comprehensive extras. With Shinobi Volume 2, Radiance continues to honor this influential series, offering fans and collectors a chance to experience these seminal ninja films in high-quality editions.
